How do I Check Fed Speakers' Impact the Market?
The Unusual Whales Fed Speaker Impact tracks and displays the average price movement of the S&P 500 ETF, $SPY, across 1, 5, 15, 30, and 60 minute intervals after any given Fed Speaker takes the podium.
It’s extremely important to note that the $SPY price may, and often is, influenced by myriad other factors. This table does not represent guaranteed moves as a result of each Fed speaker, rather the average move during their respective speeches.
Fed Speakers Impact Charts
You can view each speaker’s respective chart by clicking on their name under Fed Speaker Impact. Here we can see the individual chart for Speaker Patrick Harker, who has the most negative 60 minute $SPY movement of -0.09%.
You can also adjust the All view to display whichever combination of each given speaker you’d like. Here, we have it set to display only the speaker with the most positive $SPY movement on the 1 hour time frame (Fed Mester, +0.16%) , and the speaker with the most negative $SPY movement on the 1 hour time frame (Fed Harker, -0.09%).
Below this chart is a table that also covers each Speaker’s average market impact. This table displays the Average Low to High Change, Average Intraday Change, the number of times the market closed higher or lower and what percentage that represents, the sample size of the data, and the number of Market Shifts.
