Apple, $AAPL, will reportedly bring ChatGPT and Google, $GOOGL, Gemini under its Apple Intelligence

Apple, $AAPL, will reportedly bring ChatGPT and Google, $GOOGL, Gemini under its Apple Intelligence.

Most of the announcements at the event were AI-themed, but the most notable was Apple's new partnership with OpenAI. This partnership brings OpenAI's ChatGPT to the iPhone, giving Siri a much-needed overhaul. While Siri will continue to function as it always has, it will now be backed by ChatGPT for complex queries requiring a more sophisticated and advanced model.

Interestingly, ChatGPT isn't the only advanced model on Apple's radar. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Google's Gemini might also make its way to the iPhone. This means the Apple ecosystem will be equipped with three chatbots — Siri, ChatGPT, and now Google Gemini.

Apple is reportedly planning to announce its partnership with Google this fall, coinciding with the launch of Apple Intelligence and iOS 18. The tech giant is also set to unveil its next lineup of iPhones, the iPhone 16 series.

Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google are arguably at the top of the AI hierarchy. These companies offer their AI services to users for free but also provide paid subscriptions for exclusive and premium features. For instance, Copilot Pro offers premium features and priority access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo during peak hours.

Beyond driving more iPhone sales, Apple reportedly aims to leverage its AI services for increased profits. Gurman suggests that Apple may eventually introduce a paid subscription for Apple Intelligence.

It's worth noting that Apple's new flagship AI features will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro or later. This could be a strategic move by Apple to encourage more people to switch to the iPhone or upgrade from older hardware. iPhone sales have declined significantly in recent years, particularly in the Chinese market, impacting revenue and profits.
