Elon Musk has been sleeping on the floor of his government office across from the White House

Elon Musk appears to be taking his new role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to heart—so much so that sources say he’s been sleeping at the office.

Since being appointed to the position by his longtime ally and friend, President Donald Trump, Musk has been working from an office inside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB). Located across the street from the West Wing, the EEOB is part of the White House compound and houses multiple agencies within the Executive Office of the President.

Two sources told People magazine that the billionaire has been staying overnight in his office as he throws himself into his new responsibilities. One source described Musk as being “holed up” in his workspace, sometimes sleeping on a couch and occasionally on the floor.

The EEOB, the source noted, offers "great amenities, including a cafeteria and a bowling alley." They added that sleeping in one’s office is not uncommon in Washington, D.C., where some members of Congress stay overnight in their offices and use the House gym to shower.

Musk’s son, whom he brought to visit the Oval Office yesterday, has also been a frequent presence at DOGE headquarters, according to the source. Following the visit, Musk’s former partner and mother of their child, Grimes, publicly expressed concern over their son’s exposure, saying he "should not be in public like this.”
