Ford slashes prices up to $10,000 for its F-150 Lightning Electric truck

Per CNBC

One of Ford Motors' strongest units in the EV space, the F-150 Lightning, offers a treat for buyers as the company slashes prices for up to $10,000. This includes its top-line Platinum trim, which will also drop by prices by $6,000.

The F-150 Lightning was initially debuted in 2021, and since then, the unit has seen price increases on several occasions. The company noted that this was due to the supply constraints and material prices for batteries used on the EVs.

The company expects to triple its production as it has invested heavily into it. The expectation is that by fall, the company would be seeing more units produced.

In the second quarter, Ford sold just 4,466 Lightning units after its factory was shut down for five weeks due to a fire striking out of a newly-completed truck in February.

The new price cuts would see the EV's sticker drop to $50,000 from its $60,000 price in March. In March, it was noted that Ford expects its 2023 EV unit losses to reach $3 billion.

This would come as the company only sells three EVs in North America, its Ford F-150 Lightning, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Ford E-Transit.
