Inter Miami ticker price skyrockets amid Lionel Messi announcement

Per Reuters

The price of Inter Miami tickets has skyrocketed as Lionel Messi made an announcement that he plans to join them. It was noted that with the price increase, tickets have reached over $300.

This comes as the initially limited tickets for a chance to see Lionel Messi play on US soil have already been sold out. While the tickets initially cost $29, they were resold on the secondary market for $329.

These prices were reportedly just for the most affordable tickets, with some costing more.

This was reportedly a 1,034% increase in the ticket price, and it follows reports that the Argentine planned to join the Major League Soccer side. He then later confirmed this, which resulted in the prices of tickets skyrocketing.

TickPick brand manager Kyhle Zorn gave a statement to Reuters about the situation and how they saw an instant change in ticket prices. It was also noted that they expect to see record-breaking ticket prices as Messi goes on the road.

Zorn: "We saw an almost instantaneous jump in Inter Miami ticket prices when the word got out that Messi was leaning towards joining the club... Given his status as arguably the greatest player in the world, every time Inter Miami plays on the road, we’re going to see record breaking ticket prices."

It was recently noted that Lionel Messi chose Inter Miami in the MLS after being offered a $54 million per season contract. The contract is reportedly expected to last four years and comes as his contract with Paris Saint-Germain is reaching its expiration date of June 30.

In January, Amazon's "Thursday Night Football" audiences missed its estimates by up to 25%. This resulted in the tech giant scrambling to compensate its advertisers.

It was noted that through the 2022 season, TNF only averaged 11.3 million viewers.
