Per Bloomberg
A recent survey by Bloomberg found that men aged 15 to 24 were spending the most time gaming ever on average. This was true for 2022, when the average gaming time spent for this age group was 3.82 hours daily.
The survey also found that a fraction of those young men, 8% of them, were gaming for at least six hours daily. It was reported that in 2022, 52.4% of men aged 15 to 24 at least spent some time regularly gaming.
Justin Fox, the Bloomberg Opinion columnist behind the study, gave a statement regarding the phenomenon. The columnist also commented on how Americans aged 65 and older spent over five hours daily watching TV in 2022.
Fox: "How could I, given that young men and their gaming consoles still don’t hold a candle to old men and their televisions? American men 65 and older spent an average of just more than five hours a day watching TV in 2022, up from just more than four in 2003."
At the start of the year, Microsoft's 10,000 employee layoff saw massive cuts in the gaming division. These included those handling the development of Halo.
Recently, Louisiana passed a new bill that would require parental consent for kids playing Roblox or using social media like TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.
