President Donald Trump remains in excellent health, and his high cholesterol is “well controlled,” according to a medical report released Sunday by White House physician U.S. Navy Captain Sean Barbella. The report follows Trump’s routine physical, which took place on Friday.
It is the most comprehensive update on Trump’s health since he returned to office in January, becoming the oldest person to assume the U.S. presidency at age 78.
“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Barbella wrote.
The report notes that Trump has a history of high cholesterol, which is being managed with two medications. It also confirms that he sustained a gunshot wound to the right ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last year. The scarring remains, but his hearing is normal. Following the incident, Trump’s campaign said the injuries were superficial.
“It went, I think, well… Every test you can imagine. I was there for a long time, the yearly physical,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday. “I think I did well.”
The report also references Trump’s previous health issues, including his hospitalization for COVID-19 in October 2020 during his reelection campaign.
Trump currently takes rosuvastatin and ezetimibe—generic versions of Crestor and Zetia—to manage cholesterol. He also uses a mometasone cream for rosacea, a skin condition that causes facial redness, and takes aspirin.
Vaccination Status
The report states that Trump is up to date on all recommended vaccines. In the past, he has echoed debunked claims about vaccine safety, including statements suggesting a link between vaccines and autism. His Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has also questioned vaccine safety and efficacy—despite scientific consensus and a large ongoing measles outbreak in the U.S. Kennedy has recently acknowledged that vaccination is the best way to prevent the spread of the virus.
Trump said he took a cognitive test to distinguish himself from former President Joe Biden, now 82.
Barbella confirmed that Trump scored 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment.
Throughout his campaign, Trump sought to contrast himself with Biden, emphasizing his own fitness and energy. Biden’s performance in a key debate last year raised concerns about his cognitive abilities and eventually led to his withdrawal from the presidential race.
Although Biden’s doctors declared him fit to serve, recent books have questioned his mental fitness during his final months in office.
Barbella concluded his report by noting that Trump’s “active lifestyle”—including daily meetings, public appearances, and “frequent victories in golf events”—contributes positively to his overall health.
