Tesla, TSLA, has begun to hire for mass production of its Optimus Humanoid robot

Tesla is ramping up efforts to scale production of its Optimus humanoid robot at the Fremont, California facility. The company has listed multiple job openings for the project, with at least 16 positions available so far. These roles include manufacturing engineers, production managers, process supervisors, and production supervisors, with more positions likely to be added.

Tesla employees have shared posts on LinkedIn highlighting the need for a large recruitment push to bring the Optimus robot from concept to reality. Elon Musk has also promoted these job openings on Twitter, emphasizing the company's commitment to mass production.

The job descriptions focus heavily on scalable manufacturing. Production managers will be responsible for quickly implementing process changes, launching new products, and managing improvement projects in a controlled way. Process supervisors will lead technical teams to achieve world-class manufacturing of Tesla’s advanced humanoid AI robots. Meanwhile, manufacturing engineers will work closely with hardware and production teams to transition actuator designs from prototypes to mass production, developing efficient machine concepts to reduce complexity and cost.

According to Musk’s timeline, Tesla plans to begin mass production of the Optimus robot by 2025, aiming for an initial capacity of 10,000 units per year and ramping up to 1,000 units per month. By 2026, monthly production is expected to hit 10,000 units, and by 2027, it could reach 100,000 units. Musk has said the Optimus robot has enormous commercial potential, estimating it could generate over $10 trillion in revenue and eventually surpass Tesla’s automotive business as the company’s primary revenue driver.
