White House asks for Elon Musk's help for EV charging station expansion despite Biden previously not mentioning Tesla

Per Washington Post

Elon Musk had a private meeting with senior White House officials regarding the expansion of EV charging stations. This meeting came after Musk said that Tesla was ignored and more attention was given to other "legacy auto makers."

In a previous report by CNBC on Feb 2022, Musk shared the accomplishments of Tesla, which was also compared to the accomplishments of other companies in the article. During Q4 2021, General Motors only sold 26 electric vehicles.

Musk: “Biden has pointedly ignored Tesla at every turn and falsely stated to the public that GM leads the electric car industry, when in fact Tesla produced over 300,000 electric vehicles last quarter and GM produced 26,”

In another report by CNBC, Biden reportedly announced how GM and Ford were investing $18 billion combined into the production of electric vehicles. Musk then decided to give a statement directly to Biden regarding Tesla's accomplishments.

Musk: “Tesla has created over 50,000 US jobs building electric vehicles & is investing more than double GM + Ford combined.”

Musk has recently met with officials regarding Tesla making its extensive charging network available for other EVs. This comes as the billionaire was asked to assist the administration towards its climate goals.

The administration wanted the help of Musk to achieve its 500,000 EV charger network goal. Congress approved a $1 trillion infrastructure law in Nov of 2021, which included EV charging station expansions worth billions of dollars.

This comes shortly after Elon Musk was found not liable for securities fraud regarding his previous statement that he would take Tesla private. This resulted in a lawyer for the investors saying they were disappointed with the verdict, but Musk said that "the wisdom of the people has prevailed."

Despite the massive layoffs in 2022, Tesla was one of the companies that grew its staff count by 23%. 28,565 employees were reportedly added to the company's head count.
