Lionel Messi picks Inter Miami in the MLS after being offered a $54 million per season contract

Lionel Messi has reportedly picked Inter Miami after previously being offered a $54 million per season contract that would cover four years. The decision comes as Messi's contract with Paris Saint-Germain is reaching its expiration date.

Messi's Paris Saint-Germain contract expires on June 30, and after that, he will join Inter Miami, an American franchise co-owned by David Beckham. Recently, it was reported by SPORTS that Inter Miami reportedly wanted to have him for four years, paying him $54 million per season.

Messi reportedly received an offer from Saudi Arabia which was reportedly "not under consideration." Al-Hilal reportedly offered Messi $1.3 billion to play for two seasons, per Footmercato.

The final decision was reportedly between Inter Miami and Barcelona, per The Athletic. With Messi signing to Inter Miami, his potential debut would be on July 21 against Mexican Cruz Azul at the DRV PNK Stadium.

An MLS stakeholder gave a statement regarding the potential of Messi signing to Inter Miami.

“The league has gotten very creative with all of this... Everything is on the table.”

Hernan Castillo, a popular Argentina journalist, first reported the news of Messi's decision.

Recently, PGA Tour has agreed to merge with LIV Golf in a deal that would include the DP World Tour (European PGA Tour). This comes despite multiple lawsuits between the two and how LIV was being backed by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The deal between the two comes despite antitrust lawsuits being thrown at LIV Golf by the PGA Tour. The result of this merge would place an end to all pending litigations.
