Meta has previously said that they plan to launch an app that would compete with Twitter and now, it seems like their plans are coming closer to reality. This comes as App Store metadata reveals the company's upcoming Instagram Threads.
App Store metadata reveals that the feature would launch on July 6. The same sights of early listing have also been spotted on Google Play Store.
This comes as Meta launched a teaser on its Instagram app for "threads." The teaser would only show up when people type "threads" in the search box.
Here's the official description of Instagram Threads as revealed on the App Store.
"Threads is where communities come together to discuss everything from the topics you care about today to what’ll be trending tomorrow. Whatever it is you’re interested in, you can follow and connect directly with your favorite creators and others who love the same things — or build a loyal following of your own to share your ideas, opinions and creativity with the world."
In March, it was revealed that Meta was already contemplating the possibility of building a Twitter app competitor. During that time, it was said that the app would be a decentralized social network that would allow users to share text updates.
In February, it was reported that Meta tested paid verifications for Instagram and Facebook.
