The FBI has issued a Public Service Announcement over Tesla, TSLA, incidents

FBI Issues Warning Amid Ongoing Protests Against Tesla Linked to Anti-Trump Sentiment

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a public alert urging citizens to "remain vigilant and report suspicious activity," as protests against automaker Tesla continue to be used as a platform for opposing the Trump administration. The FBI has specifically called for the immediate reporting of any violence related to the protests.

Tesla has been contacted by Newsweek for a comment on the ongoing protests, but has not yet responded.

Why It Matters

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has collaborated closely with President Donald Trump during his second term, overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk’s leadership has faced significant pushback due to federal budget cuts, including thousands of job losses in federal agencies.

In response to these cuts, Tesla properties and vehicles have been increasingly targeted by protesters. Many of these incidents are seen as acts of retaliation. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the actions, calling them "domestic terrorism" in a statement released on Tuesday.

Details of the FBI Statement

The FBI issued a statement on March 21 acknowledging the violent and malicious targeting of Tesla electric vehicles (EVs). The FBI emphasized the need for heightened awareness in light of the incidents.

Since January 2025, there have been targeted attacks on Tesla EVs in at least nine states,” the statement read. “These incidents include arson, gunfire, and vandalism, with some involving graffiti that expresses political grievances against those the perpetrators label as racists, fascists, or political adversaries.”

The FBI further noted that these attacks appear to have been carried out by lone offenders and typically occur at night.

“These individuals use minimal planning, often deploying rudimentary tactics, such as improvised incendiary devices and firearms. They may view these acts as victimless property crimes,” the statement continued.

Protests Escalate to Violence

The ongoing protests against Tesla have escalated in recent weeks. Over the weekend, a Trump supporter clashed with protesters at a Tesla dealership in Berkeley, California. The altercation led to an arrest after the supporter reportedly used a Taser-like device in the confrontation.

The situation continues to raise concerns about the potential for further violence amid the ongoing protests.
