Jacob "Fancy" Worthington, a 25-year-old professional video gamer, earned $250,000 after winning this year's Madden Bowl, an annual tournament for the popular NFL video game series by EA Sports. That prize is nearly $80,000 more than what each player on this year's Super Bowl-winning team took home.
The 2025 championship match was held live in London on Monday, marking the first time the event took place outside the United States. Fancy claimed victory with a 31-28 win, with the action streamed live on Madden's official YouTube and Twitch channels. This victory capped off the most successful season in Madden Championship Series history, bringing Fancy's total earnings for the season to $358,000.
While Fancy is enjoying his success, EA Sports is facing challenges of its own. The company's stock has fallen over 11% this year, as some of its major game franchises, like the series formerly known as "FIFA," have struggled to maintain their appeal.
