Trump sues CBS News for $10 billion alleging 'deceptive doctoring' of Harris' '60 Minutes' interview

U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against CBS News, alleging that the network conducted a "misleading" interview with his rival, Kamala Harris.

The lawsuit, filed in Texas on Thursday, claims that CBS aired two different responses from Harris regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. Trump’s complaint argues that the version shown on the October 6 episode of 60 Minutes omitted what it calls a “word salad” response by Harris on the Biden administration’s role in influencing Israel's approach to the war.

The lawsuit, brought by the Republican nominee in Amarillo, Texas, accuses CBS of editing Harris’s response to appear more coherent. Amarillo’s single-judge federal court, presided over by Trump-appointed Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, has become a popular venue for Republican-filed lawsuits.

CBS News has denied the claims, stating that Trump’s accusations against 60 Minutes are “false” and that the lawsuit is “completely without merit,” pledging to defend against it.

The lawsuit seeks a jury trial and approximately $10 billion in damages, alleging CBS violated Texas laws prohibiting deceptive business practices.
