Trump: We are going to make a deal for Greenland

Trump: Annexation of Greenland ‘Will Take Place’

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed confidence that Greenland will be annexed by the United States. Speaking during a meeting in the Oval Office with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump stated:

“I think the annexation of Greenland will take place. We will have to make a deal on Greenland.”

Trump’s Vision for Greenland

Trump has previously pledged economic benefits for the people of Greenland if the island were to join the United States.

Last week, during a speech to Congress, he reaffirmed his interest in Greenland’s potential accession, emphasizing its strategic military importance and the possibility of it becoming part of the U.S. in the future.

Greenland’s Response

Greenland’s leading political party has responded by saying that renewed U.S. interest has actually strengthened the island’s push for independence and reinforced its position in future negotiations regarding a separation from Denmark.
