Taiwan Stops Shorts for Stocks Lower than Previous Close If Shares Dropped Over 3.5% the Day Before

Per Bloomberg

The Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission imposes a new metric where investors can't short stocks with a lower price than the previous close if shares drop over 3.5% the day before.

The rule comes into effect immediately as its benchmark TAIEX fell about almost 28% year-to-date. The NASDAQ has fallen 32% year-to-date.

Global funds pulled $47 billion net from local equities this year.
