The Justice Department is investigating the owner of TikTok for possible spying on U.S. citizens, per NYT.

The FBI and the Department of Justice are also investigating the events that led TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to use the app to surveil American journalists, per Forbes.

TikTok has reportedly spied on Forbes journalists, per Forbes.

TikTok has fired the four employees.

Previously Forbes reported how TikTok would spy on US citizens by listening to audio and following key-strokes. TikTok denied this.

Forbes is reporting, however, that its journalists were spied on directly through this methods, due to leaks from TikTok.

TikTok has been banned from US Senate devices, and ongoing discussing of legality in the US are ongoing.
