Tim Cook Says Understanding is Important and that the Average Person Can't Explain the Metaverse

When asked about the metaverse topic, Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the importance of understanding what something is saying he isn't sure if the average person can explain the metaverse.

The word "metaverse" was mentioned 36 times in Meta's earning calls while only being mentioned once during the Apple earnings calls. In July, Mark Zucker told his staff that they were in a "deep philosophical competition" with Apple to build the metaverse.

In January, Cook was asked about the company's views on the metaverse to which he replied Apple is "always exploring new and emerging technologies. The Apple CEO then pointed to the 14,000 AR kit apps already existent on the App Store.

Cook expressed his thoughts on augmented reality saying he thinks it is a "profound technology that will affect everything.
