US Unemployment Rate Increased to 3.7% from 3.5% a Month Ago

The US unemployment rate increased to 3.7% in October from 3.5% in September. The unemployment rate increased despite nonfarm payrolls increasing by 261,000 in September.

The average hourly earnings grew by 0.4% in October from a 0.3% increase in September. Wages increased 4.7% year-over-year in October.

The labor market is still tight, with 1.9 jobs opening per unemployed person by September.
