Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Apologizes to Staff in Letter Admitting He Was Unfaithful

The Letter

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has told his entire company that he was unfaithful to his wife.

In a letter to colleagues sent Sunday, Huang wrote: "I owe my family and all of you an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife. My actions hurt her and our children. There is no excuse for what I did. I am deeply sorry."

Huang wrote that his family deserved his honesty and loyalty, that he takes full responsibility for the hurt he caused, and that he is fully committed to Nvidia and will work to earn back the confidence of employees, the board, partners, and shareholders. He asked that his family be given privacy, saying they bear no responsibility for his choices.

The Security Paragraph

The letter also addressed the reporting that preceded it. Regarding the national security concerns raised in news reports, Huang wrote that Nvidia's board of directors has initiated an independent investigation, that he supports it, and that he will cooperate fully.

The admission follows weeks of reporting that Huang had been the target of a foreign intelligence effort, centered on his relationship with a Singapore-based business executive whom U.S. intelligence officials assessed to be working for Chinese intelligence, and whose company bought Nvidia's advanced chips.

Options and Market Impact

This is a governance shock at the most important company in the AI trade, and it broke on a Sunday, with markets closed. Nvidia options will price the uncertainty at Monday's open: expect an implied volatility pop, heavy put volume from hedgers, and sympathy moves across AMD, Broadcom, and the SMH.

Huang is not stepping down, and the board has expressed confidence in him, which limits the succession risk. But any headline that touches export controls, China, and Nvidia's chips at once tends to move the whole complex, not just one name.

Bottom Line

Founders almost never send letters like this. Huang's is now a market document: a personal admission, a governance test, and the opening move in a fight over what an investigation will find.
