Recent research by PwC UK revealed how two-thirds of businesses shared concerns regarding their employees' mental health. The concerns were specifically about how the cost of living crisis has affected them.
This came as many businesses started to see na increase in mental health long-term leaves. This was since the pandemic, and as reported, two in five businesses have seen increasing numbers.
The research revealed how more than half of employees had spotted a decline in employee mental health since the pandemic. Specifically, there was a reported 52% of businesses felt this way.
To top things off, 53% of businesses noted that the cost of living crisis was behind in the decline of employee mental health. PwC Chair of Health Industries, Anthony Bruce, gave a statement regarding the situation.
Bruce: "Increased sick leave means lower business productivity and high-stress levels, and when not managed properly or supported, the risks, costs, and disruption can be far greater."
In October 2021, it was noted that the number of Americans living paycheck to paycheck increased by 5% from a year ago to 60%.
A month before, in September, it was noted that 71% of employees' salaries couldn't keep up with the costs as average utility payments increased by 16.3% YoY during that time.
