Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently advised employees to either comply with the company's return-to-office plan or consider seeking employment elsewhere, a stance confirmed by Amazon to CNN. This follows a report from Insider highlighting Jassy's comments at a recent internal event.

Jassy’s remarks underscore Amazon's ongoing pressure on US office workers to adhere to a policy requiring at least three days in the office each week.

During the event earlier this month, Jassy stated that while employees have the right to disagree with and critique the company’s decision to bring workers back to the office, they do not have the right to ignore the policy. He also suggested that those unable to accept the policy might face bleak prospects at Amazon.

Recently, discussions on platforms like Reddit and Blind have focused on the legal rights of employees hired as virtual workers in the past year and whether they can be mandated to work in an office.

Insider previously reported that Jassy told resistant employees, “It’s probably not going to work out for you.” The report also noted that employees at the meeting requested internal data justifying the return-to-office policy.

In response, Jassy explained to CNN that the return-to-office policy was a decision based on various factors, including business outcomes. He noted that Amazon had limited data supporting indefinite remote work and that past decisions were made with limited data available.
