Bezos of $AMZN pays $90 million for third mansion in Florida

The founder of Amazon.com Inc. has agreed to purchase a six-bedroom home in the Miami area for approximately $90 million in an off-market transaction, according to sources familiar with the deal. Bezos intends to reside in this home while he demolishes the other properties he acquired on the island, one of the sources mentioned.

A representative for Bezos declined to provide a comment. Property records indicate that the house was last sold in 1998 for $2.5 million.

Bezos, the world's second-wealthiest individual, announced his relocation to Miami from the Seattle area in November. He acquired two additional mansions in Indian Creek for a total of $147 million, a man-made barrier island so synonymous with wealth that it's known as "Billionaire Bunker."

Since February, he has sold approximately $8.5 billion worth of Amazon stock after refraining from selling any since 2021. Bezos, 60, has not disclosed his plans for the proceeds.

Bezos's real estate portfolio also includes properties in Washington, a Maui estate, and a Beverly Hills mansion he purchased for $165 million in 2020.

The owner of the mansion in his latest Florida acquisition, located at 28 Indian Creek Island Road, is listed as former banker Javier Holtz.
