Biden expected to seek $60 billion for Ukraine and aid for Israel in $100 billion in funding request to Congress, per NBC.
According to multiple sources briefed on the matter, President Biden is reportedly contemplating a supplemental request of approximately $100 billion. This proposed funding would encompass defense assistance for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, along with allocations for bolstering security measures along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Senator Jim Risch, the leading Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, expressed that he had not been informed of the specific $100 billion amount, relying on information from media reports. During a news conference, he mentioned awareness of a potential $10 billion earmarked for Israel.
Up until now, administration representatives have not provided an immediate response to requests for comments on this matter. As of Wednesday, various sources indicated that President Biden has yet to finalize the exact amount, and the detailed breakdown has not been conveyed to Congress.
It is essential to note that, per U.S. law, the authority to allocate funds rests with Congress, not the executive branch.
