Elon Musk says Jeff Bezos to sell Tesla

Jeff Bezos responded to Elon Musk's accusation that he had predicted a Donald Trump loss in the 2024 election and suggested that shareholders should sell their Tesla and SpaceX stock. Musk, who is the CEO of both companies, made the claim in a post early this morning, stating that he “just learned tonight at Mar-a-Lago that Jeff Bezos was telling everyone that Donald Trump would lose for sure, so they should sell all their Tesla and SpaceX stock.”

Bezos, a competitor of Musk in the space industry, quickly denied the statement, responding to Musk's post with, "Nope. 100% not true."

This exchange reignites a long-running feud between the two of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

In addition to his ventures with Amazon, Bezos owns The Washington Post, where he controversially blocked the publication's editorial section from endorsing a candidate in the 2024 election. The editorial board had initially planned to endorse Kamala Harris, but Bezos's intervention prompted a significant backlash. Over 200,000 digital subscriptions were canceled in the days following the decision, according to NPR.

Musk, on the other hand, is a vocal supporter of Trump and reportedly spent more than $100 million to support his campaign. Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy have been appointed by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E.), a new initiative aimed at reforming the federal government and advising on significant budget cuts. In his second term, Trump plans to extend the tax reforms from his 2017 tax bill, which slashed the corporate tax rate from 35% to 21%.
