Facebook will no longer fact-check former President Donald Trump now that he’s officially running again for the White House

Per NYP: Facebook will no longer fact-check former President Donald Trump now that he’s officially running again for the White House, according to a company memo.

A manager on Meta’s “news integrity partnership” team sent a directive Tuesday to help those “seeking guidance regarding fact-checking political speech” over Trump’s candidacy, which he announced hours later.

The memo, obtained by CNN, noted that “political speech is ineligible for fact-checking” on the site, which has long been accused of censorship.

“This includes the words a politician says as well as photo, video, or other content that is clearly labeled as created by the politician or their campaign,” the memo reportedly stated.

The clarification comes even though Trump is still banned from Facebook and sister site Instagram. While he cannot post directly, it means that fact-checkers will allow his speeches and statements to be shared by others.
