France is preparing a military contingent of 2,000 troops to be sent to Ukraine, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin said.
Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin has stated that Russia has information indicating that France is preparing a military contingent of 2,000 troops to be sent to Ukraine.
Naryshkin criticized the French leadership, alleging that they are indifferent to the well-being of ordinary French citizens and the concerns of military leaders. According to the SVR's information, preparations for the contingent to be sent to Ukraine are already underway.
The SVR chief mentioned that the French military is apprehensive about the challenges of transferring and deploying such a large unit in Ukraine without drawing attention. He warned that such a contingent would be a legitimate target for Russian armed forces, facing the same fate as previous French forces that engaged in conflict in the region.
Following a conference on Ukraine in Paris, French President Emmanuel Macron did not categorically rule out the possibility of sending Western ground troops to the area of the ongoing military operation in Ukraine. He also pledged that Western nations would take necessary actions to prevent Russia from achieving victory in the conflict.
