Netflix, $NFLX, has listed a $900,000 AI job as actors and writers continue to strike.
The job listing indicates that Netflix plans to leverage AI for "creating high-quality content" rather than solely focusing on developing new algorithms to recommend shows and movies. The company aims to integrate artificial intelligence into various aspects of its business. Additionally, Netflix employs AI to optimize the production of original movies and TV shows, as stated on its website.
Netflix has several AI-related job openings with lucrative compensation, including a technical director position for generative AI at its gaming studio, offering an annual salary of up to $650,000. These efforts have resulted in the creation of innovative content, such as the Spanish reality dating series "Deep Fake Love," which utilizes AI-generated "deepfakes" by scanning contestants' faces. The gaming studio also employs generative AI to compose narratives and dialogue for its games.
Interestingly, these developments follow a situation where actors rejected a proposal from the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The proposal offered a one-time $200 day rate for performers to be scanned for future use as AI-enhanced CGI simulacrums indefinitely, without compensation or consent. SAG-AFTRA opposed this, arguing that Netflix would gain full ownership of the actors' scans, likeness, and images for all eternity, with no compensation or consent required for any future projects.
