Despite his recent appointment by Donald Trump to head the Department of Government Efficiency, Musk is showcasing his own brand of efficiency by speed-clearing Diablo 4's Pit 150 dungeon at a world-class level. In fact, he may have just claimed the top spot globally, clocking a record-breaking run. Seriously.

Musk posted his sub-2:00 run on Twitter, leaving no doubt about its legitimacy. He completed the dungeon with 13:04 left on the 15:00 timer, making for an impressive 1:56 finish. This places him three seconds ahead of the current record holder, Resistance, who managed a 1:59 run. Musk and Resistance are now the only tracked players in the world to clear this challenge in under two minutes.

It’s hard not to be baffled. Sure, Musk is a known Diablo enthusiast, but to this extent? Where is he finding the time—and how is he achieving this level of mastery? He appears to be using the same Quill Volley Spiritborn build popular among top players. So, is it his strategy that gives him an edge? Does he have uniquely optimized gear? Or is he simply benefiting from lucky enemy AI behavior during his runs?

Some theorize that Musk might be spending money to acquire perfect gear or hiring someone to boost his account. However, Diablo 4 has systems in place to prevent such practices. For instance, re-rolled or masterworked items are account-bound, meaning these stats are the result of grinding and RNG—a process that can take hundreds of hours. While it’s not impossible he’s engaging in some black-market, TOS-violating method to gain an edge, the question remains: why? Why this specific game, and not others where such advantages might be easier to buy?

The whole situation is a bit perplexing. Whether it’s sheer skill, incredible time management, or something else entirely, Elon Musk's rise to the top of Diablo 4's leaderboards continues to defy expectations.
