The national average for a midrange bathroom remodel is $24,606, per WSJ.

The evolution of bathrooms has come a long way from the simple pedestal sink and alcove tub. Nowadays, people desire a personalized space that exudes not just functionality but also a sense of "joy and tranquility," as recently expressed by San Diego-based designer Tatiana Machado-Rosas to the trade publication Kitchen & Bath Design News. They seek a personal sanctuary with a spa-like ambiance where they can truly unwind.

Of course, they also want this transformation to enhance the value of their homes. On average, a bathroom remodel can cost between $6,622 and $16,744, with a national average of $11,365, which translates to about $70 to $250 per square foot, according to 2023 data from the home-improvement platform Angi. However, bathroom renovations offer endless possibilities, and expenses can escalate significantly. Even in 2020, well before "inflation" and "labor shortages" became integral parts of the renovation landscape, homeowners were investing anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000 in primary bathroom makeovers, according to a study by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Today, costs can easily reach $50,000 or even higher.
