Trump just granted pardons to three co-founders of the BitMEX cryptocurrency exchange

President Donald Trump has issued pardons to the three co-founders of the cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX, according to a source familiar with the clemency decision.

The recipients of the pardons — Arthur Hayes, Benjamin Delo, and Samuel Reed — had pleaded guilty in 2022 to multiple charges, including violations of anti-money laundering laws and failing to properly oversee the platform. Trump signed the pardons on Thursday, though the move was not publicly announced at the time.

Earlier in January, BitMEX was fined $100 million for violating the Bank Secrecy Act. Regulators found that the exchange had willfully failed to establish, implement, and maintain a compliant anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) program.
