Ukraine could lose its war with Russia if the U.S. delays military aid.

The chief of staff for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Andriy Yermak, expressed concern that if the United States delays military aid to Ukraine, there is a significant risk that the country could lose its war against Russia. Speaking at the U.S. Institute for Peace in Washington, Yermak emphasized that the failure of Congress to approve additional aid could make it "impossible" to reclaim territory captured by Russia and might lead to a substantial risk of losing the ongoing conflict.

Yermak, addressing the matter in English, stressed the critical importance of prompt approval for the debated support in Congress. He underlined that delayed assistance could potentially place Ukraine in a precarious position similar to its current circumstances.

His remarks coincided with President Zelenskyy's confidential video call with lawmakers, aiming to appeal to Congress for backing a proposed aid package requested by the Biden administration. Yermak expressed Ukraine's gratitude for the support received from the U.S. and Europe since Russia's invasion in February 2022. However, he underscored the ongoing need for additional weaponry, including long-range missiles and air defense systems, to defend the nation and protect civilians in areas formerly occupied by Russian forces.
