US officially goes after Chinese fentanyl manufacturers with first-ever charges

While certain parts of the US have been dealing with the fentanyl crisis, the government is finally stepping in and would be filing the first ever chargest against Chinese fentanyl manufacturers. It was rpeorted that the charges would involve four companies and eight individuals.

The allegations include how chemicals used in fentanyl production were illegally trafficked. The US Justice Department gave an official statement regarding the response of China.

"China urges the U.S. side to stop dumping blame and to stop smear attacks on China,"

China's foreign ministry reportedly demanded that those involved, who they labeled as "illegally arrested" to be released. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco gave a comment regarding the situation, still talking about fentanyl and why it was such a big threat.

Dept Atty. General Lisa Monaco: "Fentanyl poses a singular threat, not only because the smallest doses can be lethal, but because fentanyl does not occur in nature. It is entirely man-made."

Recently, Senator Elizabeth Warren warned about how crypto was assisting in the funding of the fentanyl trade. The US senator said that there were groups that accepted crypto as payment for these drugs.

In other news, Canada's British Columbia reportedly decriminalizes owning 2.5 grams of illegal drugs for adults 18 and older. These included opioids, crack, meth, and MDMA.
