X is considering removing the number of likes and reposts that are currently visible on each post

Elon Musk mentioned that his social media platform X is contemplating removing the display of likes and reposts on posts. Speaking at the Morgan Stanley technology, media, and telecom conference, Musk also stated that X is a few months away from obtaining approval for a money transmitter license in New York.

Formerly known as Twitter, the platform is aiming to incorporate financial features, including the ability to send payments to other users, as previously indicated by Musk. Securing licenses in each U.S. state is a crucial step toward implementing these features.

Musk expressed concerns that displaying such information could clutter the content on X. Since assuming control of the company, he has also included the number of views on each post.

On Sunday, Tesla CEO Elon Musk met with former President Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida, alongside undisclosed wealthy Republican donors, according to The New York Times, citing three sources briefed on the meeting.

As Trump gears up for a general election campaign against President Joe Biden, he is actively seeking donors. It remains uncertain whether Musk will provide financial backing or endorse Trump and his 2024 campaign.

Musk and a representative for Trump's campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

On March 2, private jets belonging to both Trump and Musk were observed landing at a Palm Beach airport within less than an hour of each other. The planes' arrival times were first reported online by "Elon Jet," a service that tracks over 125 jets of politicians, celebrities, and executives using publicly available data.

In September 2023, Musk visited the White House to discuss artificial intelligence technology but did not meet with Biden at that time.

Musk, who owns the social media platform X and leads defense contractor SpaceX in addition to Tesla, did not endorse Trump in either his 2016 or 2020 campaigns.
