Almost half of Gen Z employee income comes from two roles

Per Kantar

Kantar estimated that almost half of Gen Z employee income comes from a combination of at least two roles. Only 21% of Boomers were likely to have over one position.

It was also revealed that 65% of Gen Z workers either had or would consider a side job. Interestingly, 42% of Boomers said that they preferred working remotely due to them being more productive.

Out of Gen Z employees, only 28% of them said that they would prefer working at home and only 14% of them said they would prefer not to work remotely. Some of the reasons being they would like to access office perks like lunches or snacks.

Only 8% of Boomers said they would prefer to go to the office and potentially access the lunch or snack perks. It was also noted that Gen Z workers were working hard most likely because they are trying to get promoted.

Kantar's research was conducted online and consisted of 10,055 participants from December 13 2022 to January 6 2023. These participants were either part-time or full-time workers across ten global markets.

The locations that were included in the study consisted of the following.

  • US
  • UK
  • France
  • Germany
  • India
  • Singapore
  • Spain
  • South Afrika
  • Mainland China
  • Brazil

A September 2022 FED study found that remote work had a direct effect on the increase in house prices and that the shift was responsible for 60% of the markup felt during the pandemic. It was found that for every 1% increase in remote work, house prices would also increase by 0.9%.

In October, 1,300 CEOs were surveyed, and over 50% of them were thinking of downsizing. When comparing in-office, hybrid, or remote workers, the CEOs noted that remote workers would be their least priority and would be the first to go.
