Amazon will be freezing staffing levels in its advertising business to align its expenses with slowing sales better. The information was given by a familiar source that requested to remain anonymous since the plans were private.
Amazon will fill vacancies for its advertising business, but no new positions will be created. A company spokesperson said, "Amazon continues to have a significant number of open roles available across the company."
Since Oct 27, Amazon shares have dropped 13%. The company froze hiring for corporate roles and had been shutting down or cutting several experimental and smaller programs to reduce its expenses.
