Anthony Fauci says he has 'no doubt' President Biden possesses the mental and physical fortitude to remain president

Dr. Anthony Fauci says he has 'no doubt' President Biden possesses the mental and physical fortitude to remain president.

Speaking on CBS News's "The Takeout" podcast Tuesday, Fauci mentioned his frequent interactions with Biden during his time in Washington, D.C. He said these interactions did not align with how Biden appeared during the first presidential debate.

"To me, it just looked like a bad night,” Fauci said about the debate. "[Biden is] very probing in his questions, very analytical."
“When you go in to brief him, you better really know your topic because he’s going to ask you very relevant questions. He’s very reflective and doesn’t just jump to conclusions; he’s very analytic,” Fauci added.

When asked if any part of the debate medically alarmed him, Fauci said such an assessment would be “inappropriate.”

“When you’re just looking at someone on a one-shot basis, you just don’t know what could have happened,” he said. “Did he have a bad cold? Did he take an antihistamine that made him groggy? We don’t know what went on, and it would be unfair and inappropriate to diagnose something from just a 90-minute clip.”

For these reasons, Fauci expressed having “no doubt” that Biden has the necessary vigor and mental capability to continue serving as president.

“In my interactions with him, I have no doubt,” Fauci said. “I can only speak from my own interactions with him."

Odds that Biden will drop out of the 2024 election exceeded 80% Wednesday. This surge followed a New York Times report that the president told an ally he was considering whether to remain in the race due to his debate performance.
