Biden's family 2022 tax returns released

Per the Washington Post and FEC, IRS filings

On April 18, 2023, President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden released their 2022 tax returns, revealing a federal adjusted gross income of $579,514 and total taxes paid of $169,820, resulting in an effective tax rate of 23.8%. The White House emphasized that Biden has now publicly shared 25 years of tax returns, contrasting with former President Donald Trump, who did not voluntarily release his tax returns during his time as a presidential candidate or as president. The release of the tax returns aligns with Biden's commitment to upholding presidential norms and traditions.

The tax returns also showed that the Bidens donated $20,180 to 20 charities in 2022. The largest donation of $5,000 went to the Beau Biden Foundation, which focuses on protecting children from abuse and was established in memory of Biden's late son. Additionally, the Bidens donated $2,000 to the National Fraternal Order of Police Foundation and $1,680 to their home church parish, St. Joseph on the Brandywine.

In 2021, the Bidens reported a federal adjusted gross income of $610,702 and paid $150,439 in federal income taxes, with an effective tax rate of 24.6%. Despite being millionaires now, Biden often emphasizes his middle-class upbringing and financial challenges. He has pledged not to raise taxes on individuals earning less than $400,000 annually.

The White House also released the 2022 tax returns of Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff. They reported a federal adjusted gross income of $456,918 and paid $93,570 in federal income taxes, resulting in an effective tax
