China is set to grant temporary visa exemptions to citizens of France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia from December 1 to November 30 next year. During this period, individuals from these countries entering China for purposes such as business, tourism, visiting relatives, or transit for up to 15 days will not require a visa.

This move aims to stimulate post-pandemic tourism in the world's second-largest economy. China has been gradually reopening its borders and restoring international flight routes to revive its tourism sector, which faced restrictions due to COVID-19 measures. The temporary visa exemption is part of China's efforts to enhance its global image and overcome negative perceptions in various Western countries.

The announcement received positive reactions from German officials, with hopes for similar measures to be extended to all EU member states. France's Foreign Minister also welcomed the decision during her visit to Beijing. China's aviation sector is gradually recovering, with international flights resuming and COVID-19 test requirements being lifted for inbound travelers.
