Deloitte's US employees can now buy $1,000 of Lego on the company's dime to boost their well-being

Deloitte, one of the Big Four professional services firms, has expanded its long-running wellness subsidy program to include "Legos and puzzles" among the reimbursable items, according to internal policy documents reviewed by Business Insider.

For years, the firm has provided eligible U.S. employees with an annual allowance to spend on subscriptions, equipment, and experiences that support personal well-being. In 2021, the company doubled the subsidy from $500 to $1,000, according to an internal webpage.

The benefit is designed to "empower and support your journey toward thriving mentally, physically, and financially and living your purpose," as stated in the policy documents.

While most partners and salaried professionals are eligible, interns, contracted workers, and employees on leave are not covered by the program.

One Deloitte employee told BI that the new updates have sparked lively discussion in internal team chats:

"Most of the responses are things like, 'Lego?!?!? Finally!' or jokes about how they can now rationalize buying the coveted Millennium Falcon Star Wars Lego set," the person said.

That particular set—the Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon—retails for $850, leaving a bit of the $1,000 annual subsidy for other wellness-approved items like fencing classes or neck pillows.

Another employee told BI that they see the benefit as a meaningful gesture:

"This makes a huge difference! I personally like to think of what I need or want for the next subsidy. I’ve been able to upgrade my workspace, and it helps with the work intake."

They added that Lego had become a bit of an office favorite, as it diverges from more typical wellness choices:

"Knocking out a four-hour Lego build in under two hours is a great stress reliever."

Lego is just one of several newly approved items as of June 1, the start of Deloitte’s FY26 fiscal year.

According to the updated policy section titled "what’s new for FY26," other additions include:

  • Kitchenware and appliances (e.g., blender, refrigerator)
  • Spa services like facials and body treatments
  • Personal portable cooling fans
  • Ergonomic, cooling, and sleeping pillows
