Billionaire Elon Musk announced he's relocating the headquarters of SpaceX and the social media company X from California to Texas.

In a post on X Tuesday, Musk stated that SpaceX will move from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas, while X will relocate from San Francisco to Austin.
Musk cited a new law signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom on Monday, which prohibits school districts from requiring staff to inform parents of their child's gender identity change, as the "final straw."
"I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children," Musk wrote.
Tesla, where Musk serves as CEO, moved its corporate headquarters from Palo Alto, California, to Austin in 2021.
Musk has also mentioned that he has moved his residence from California to Texas, where there is no state personal income tax.
