Elon Musk’s mom Maye accuses Biden of stopping his plans to make ‘world a better place’ after Starlink loses $900M in subsidies

Elon Musk’s mom Maye accuses Biden of stopping his plans to make ‘world a better place’ after Starlink loses $900M in subsidies, per NYP.

Maye Musk, aged 75, expressed bewilderment at the FCC's decision to conclude that her son's company failed to demonstrate its ability to deliver the promised service. In a tweet, she stated, "I am the mother of @elonmusk. His goal is to make this world a better place. @POTUS wants to stop him. Have you any idea how furious I am?" She highlighted that people in other countries are proud of Elon and find it challenging to comprehend the motives behind the U.S. President's actions, seeking advice on how to respond to them.

Maye Musk's critique was shared in response to a tweet by FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr, who accused the agency of participating in the regulatory harassment of Elon Musk. Carr, along with another Republican commissioner, dissented from the FCC's decision to deny $885.5 million in rural broadband subsidies to SpaceX's satellite internet unit, Starlink.

The funding withdrawal in August 2022 was based on speed-test data, even though Starlink had committed to providing high-speed internet service to 642,000 rural homes and businesses in 35 states. Carr suggested that the FCC's ruling was influenced by the Biden administration's discontent with Elon Musk, with whom the administration has had frequent disagreements since President Biden took office in 2020. Musk has criticized Biden and accused him of neglecting Tesla, despite its significant role in advancing electric vehicles, a technology supported by the administration.
