Climate activists made their presence known on Thursday by taking control of the stage during a research conference at the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) secure headquarters.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and Israeli central bank Governor Amir Yaron were addressing the conference when the protesters, chanting "End fossil finance," interrupted the proceedings. Security promptly escorted Powell off the stage, and the disruption lasted about two minutes before order was restored. Yaron remained seated during the incident.
This marks the second time in a few weeks that an event featuring Powell has been disrupted by climate activists, with a similar occurrence on Oct. 24 in New York.
