French Pension Protesters Target Euronext Paris, French Stock Trading Exchange

Protesters expressing opposition to French President Emmanuel Macron's pension reform entered the entrance hall of Euronext NV's offices, located in the La Defense business district near Paris. The pension reform, which was enacted earlier this month, has faced continued resistance.

Footage broadcast on French television depicted railway workers and other demonstrators chanting slogans and waving union flags.

A Euronext representative confirmed that the protest, which concluded by 1 p.m. local time on Thursday, did not affect the company's operations or disrupt trading activities.

Dissatisfaction persists over President Macron's decision to increase the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64. As organized protests in recent weeks have had limited influence on the government's course of action, opponents are increasingly directing their demonstrations toward symbols of capitalism and business in France.

Prior protests have involved demonstrators entering the offices of companies such as LVMH, BlackRock Inc., and Natixis SA.
