iPhone, $AAPL, owners say the latest iOS update is resurfacing deleted nudes.

iPhone users have been left unsettled by a strange glitch this week, with several reporting that pictures deleted years ago are resurfacing on their devices. The problem seems to be connected to the iOS 17.5 update, which was released on Monday. One Reddit user shared their experience of "nsfw material" reappearing on their iPhone after the update, saying, "Latest iOS update has brought back some pictures I deleted in 2021. Erm, so yeah. Very creepy. Thoroughly freaked out."

iOS 17.5, launched on Monday, added more word games to Apple News+ and included significant security enhancements to Apple's Maps, Notes, and Find My apps. Despite these improvements, some users who quickly downloaded the update regretted their decision after noticing this unusual glitch.

Apple's Photos app normally includes a "Recently Deleted" folder, which retains deleted images and videos for 30 days. However, the issue seems to involve images and videos deleted months or even years ago reappearing. One user on Reddit mentioned, "I have four pics from 2010 that keep reappearing as the latest pics uploaded to iCloud. I have deleted them repeatedly." Another user shared, "One pic from June 2023 reappeared on my iPhone photo library. I'm sure, because in April 2024 I've transferred all my photos/videos to a computer and afterwards cleaned all photos/videos from the iPhone (including trash bin). I don't use iCloud Photos."
