Ken Griffin expressed concerns regarding Gov. Ron DeSantis despite publicly backing him six months ago

Per NYT

Ken Griffin previously donated $5 million to Gov. Ron DeSantis towards his re-election efforts in a previous report per Politico. However, the hedge fund billionaire has recently expressed concerns regarding the Governor's recent moves.

Per two people that were familiar with the matter, Ken Griffin met up with Gov. DeSantis in Florida recently with talks about policy moves and pronouncements being talked of. Per the people familiar, there were two major concerns that Mr. Griffin had regarding the recent moves and statements of the Florida Governor.

The first concern was regarding previous statements by DeSantis saying that the invasion of Russia toward Ukraine was a "territorial dispute" and that the war "was not a vital U.S. interest. The second concern was regarding a recently signed ban in Florida that would stop abortions for six weeks.

This was according to people that were reportedly familiar with the matter. A spokesman for Ken Griffin, Zia Ahmed, gave a statement regarding the situation.

Ahmed: “Ken may not agree with all of the governor’s policies, but he appreciates all that the governor has done to make Florida one of the most attractive states to live and work in America.”

Ken Griffin of Citadel has previously said that he is open to serving as Treasury secretary, but only on the condition that the country was in economic trouble. He was previously known as a mega-donor, with a GOP $100 million midterm megadonor.

Recently, Griffin has also said that his firms are trying to negotiate for an enterprise-wide license to use OpenAI's ChatGPT tool. He commented during that time, referring to it as the "fastest-growing consumer application" in the internet's history.

Griffin: “I’m really excited to see how this changes the world.”
