Modelo, a Mexican beer, is now the top-selling beer in the US for its 2nd consecutive month after Bud Light lost its spot

Per Fox Business

Bud Light is far from its spot as the number one top-selling beer in the US. Now, Modelo, a Mexican beer, records its second consecutive month as the top-selling beer in the US for May and June.

Despite that, Bud Light remains the top-selling beer when it comes to sales dollars. This was on the basis of its volume on a year-to-date basis. This came as Modelo Especial saw an 11.4% dollar sales increase and a 5.7% volume increase in the last week of July 1.

Bump Williams, the Bump Williams Consulting CEO, gave a statement to Fox Business regarding Bud Light's performance.

Williams: "If Bud Light continues its double-digit declines for the balance of 2023 and Modelo Especial continues to grow at 10% or greater for the balance of the calendar year, then it’s probable that Modelo Especial surpasses Bud Light as the No. 1 selling beer in America on a calendar basis,"

In May, it was reported that Bud Light said that the drop in US sales after a backlash toward the brand was equivalent to 1% of the company's global volumes.

In April, it was reported that Anheuser-Busch would be pausing its marketing efforts as it reevaluates its influencer partnerships.
