The Supreme Court voted 6-3 in support of Christian web designers on the topic of same-sex wedding website designs. The decision would support Christian web designers who decide not to work with same-sex weddings.
The ruling says the designers have a free speech right under the Constitution's First Amendment. This applies to the designer's decision to refuse messages they don't agree with.
Justice Neil Gorsuch gave a statement regarding the decision, also mentioning the First Amendment. It was mentioned that people in the United States should be free to think and speak.
Justice Neil Gorsuch: "This court has also recognized that no public accommodation law is immune from the demands of the Constitution. In particular, this court has held, public accommodations statutes can sweep too broadly when deployed to compel speech,"
In May, it was reported that Target lost $9 billion just a week after boycott calls over LGBTQ+ kids' clothing. This came after the retailer rolled out its "PRIDE" collection, which also resulted in team members being threatened as part of the backlash.
Recently, it was reported that Sales of Bud Light suffered their steepest weekly drop yet, with the Anheuser-Busch brand falling 28.5% compared to a year ago.
