Trump has said Anheuser-Busch and Budlight, $BUD, is not a woke company

Former President Trump criticized Bud Light for its controversial partnership with a transgender influencer, which he claimed led to a significant drop in sales for the beer brand last year. Trump threatened to compile and release a list of "woke" companies, hinting at potential repercussions for their perceived alignment with progressive values.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Bud Light's collaboration with TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney as a "massive mistake" that had costly consequences. He asserted that while Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, might not be considered "woke," he could identify numerous other companies that fit the description.

"Why not? The Radical Left does it viciously to well-run, conservative companies — and people," Trump remarked. "It's very nasty, but that's how they play the game!"

Last year, Bud Light faced backlash following the release of an ad featuring Mulvaney, prompting many consumers to boycott the brand. Anheuser-Busch InBev sent personalized Bud Light cans to various social media influencers, including Mulvaney, who identifies as transgender.

The negative response was swift, leading to some stores giving away Bud Light for free and the company repurchasing unsold, expired beer from wholesalers. As a result, Modelo Especial surpassed Bud Light as the top-selling beer brand in terms of revenue for the four-week and single-week periods ending June 3, 2023.

Recent data from Bump Williams Consulting, which analyzed NielsenIQ data, indicates a 29.9% year-over-year decrease in Bud Light sales for the week ending January 20, compared to the same period last year.

In an attempt to regain customers, Bud Light has produced a 60-second advertisement titled "Easy Night Out," set to air during the Super Bowl. The ad portrays a group of friends encountering a "Bud Light Genie" who fulfills their wishes, including magically summoning Bud Lights during a night out.
