Twitter is being evicted from its Colorado , Boulder office over unpaid rent

According to court documents, Twitter is facing eviction from its office in Boulder due to unpaid rent. The tech giant, under the management of Elon Musk, has encountered significant challenges, resulting in reports of outstanding bills. While it is not uncommon for contractors to face payment issues during transitional periods, the fact that Twitter has neglected rent payments for several months suggests a more severe deterioration of its operations.

Lot 2 SBO LLC, the landlord based in Chicago, owns the office space at 3401 Bluff St in Boulder. In February 2020, the landlord received a $968,000 letter of credit. This credit was being utilized to cover rent payments, acting as a substitute for regular payments. However, the funds were depleted in March, and Twitter has not paid rent since then. If we assume regular monthly payments were made using the letter of credit, it provides an estimate of around $27,000 per month.

In May, the landlord initiated legal proceedings, leading to a court order on May 31, stating that the sheriff should facilitate Twitter's eviction within the next 49 days, prior to the end of July. The case is registered as 2023CV30342 in Boulder District Court.

Previously, Twitter's Boulder offices accommodated approximately 300 employees. However, due to layoffs, terminations, and resignations, the current workforce is likely less than half that number.

TechCrunch has verified the legal records mentioned by the Denver Business Journal. The Sheriff's office refrained from commenting on ongoing matters until their conclusion. In the process of researching the case, another instance surfaced, indicating a separate legal case where a cleaning company is pursuing $93,504 in unpaid fees from Twitter.
